Cover art

For those who make hosted games, how do you make your cover art? What programs do you use? Do you draw your pictures? Get someone else to draw them? Do you find them online?

Thanks for the time to answer this. I’m just curious, as sooner or later I’ll have to make a cover.

The cover for Unnatural was drawn for me by a talented member of the forums but sadly he is no longer active on these forums.

I hired a professional artist for my WiP. I would have prefered to go with someone who has read my story but I wasn’t aware until recent that we have talented artists on the site. We do, by the way.

Aaaaaand I just got an email from the artist saying he is too busy to finish the app cover by Aug 31st. Back to the drawing board.

I got a professional to create all my illustrations.

A lot of artists and photographers on deviantart.com do commissions or would sell you an existing piece of art that you pick. Check it out, there’s a lot of new talent on there.

A bit of browsing suggests that if you go this route you can expect to pay anywhere from $100 to $300, maybe more depending on how detailed it is.

I make my own art

@gkkiller I’d love to see some, if you’d care to share.

I usually scan a pencil sketch, then ink and paint over it in photoshop (that applies to both Sabres of Infinity and Mecha Ace).

Wow, lots of answers. I’ll keep my eyes open for some artists. I might get a friend to draw me up something.

if i draw something, I sketch it first, scan it, and make the drawing in PS

@Port3r I tend to just draw in PS, but I’m not a great drawer.

I am not very great but i can atleast draw something

I have a Wacom Cintiq tablet, so I use that a lot.

@gkkiller those are pretty good. How much did the tablet cost? I’m hoping to get some sketches in my game too

@that1german Tablets can cost quite a bit, anywhere from $60 to $300, least that’s what I’ve heard. Pretty sure mine was like $60 something.
