If you have trouble aiming, try using your thumb to grip the lower end of the blade. This may give you some better control, but be careful, as it exposes your thumb to attack since you're not protected by the guard. "Your father normally used the bull's horn guard; it's a variation of the boar's tooth stance. It's a very stable guard stance, with the ability to switch to a more powerful stance with ease.
