Choice of the Star Captain – Killer Blobs from Outer Space

Posted by: Dan Fabulich | Comments (12)

We’re proud to announce that Choice of the Star Captain, the latest in our popular line of multiple-choice interactive-fiction games, is now available for Kindle, iOS, Android, and, via the Chrome Web Store, Windows, OS X, and Linux.

Fight on the front lines of the war between humanity and the hideous Blobs. (Not that anyone has actually seen a Blob up close, but everyone knows they have tentacles. Surely they’re hideous!) Go on stealth missions, run alien blockades, and investigate mysterious planets, “aided” by Lloyd, your insufferably obnoxious shipboard computer.

Choice of the Star Captain is a hilarious interactive science-fiction novel where your choices determine how the story proceeds. The game is entirely text-based–without graphics or sound effects–but powered by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

“I set out to write a rollicking and ridiculous space adventure,” said Dorian Hart, author of Choice of the Star Captain. “My hope is that my readers will laugh out loud several times per minute–because the story is funny, of course, and not due to some unfortunate medical condition.” Dorian’s design credits include BioShock, Freedom Force and System Shock 2, among others.

Humanity needs you, Star Captain! Will you defeat the Blobs and come home as a war hero? Will you uncover the secret that sparked the Blob invasion? Will you serve as ambassador and convince the Blobs to spare the human race? The choice is yours.

We hope you enjoy playing Choice of the Star Captain. We encourage you to tell your friends about it, and recommend the game on StumbleUpon, Facebook, Twitter, and other sites. Don’t forget: our initial download rate determines our ranking on the App Store. Basically, the more times you download in the first week, the better we’ll rank.

  1. Dan Fabulich says:

Android users should be sure to upgrade to the new 1.0.2 version. The 1.0.1 version may get stuck on the “Loading” screen on some Android devices.

  2. Xavier says:

Um… I checked the Amazon Kindle Store for Choide of the Star Captain AND Eerie Estate Agent and neither of them are there. Are they (mainly Choice of the SC) not available for E-Ink kindles or something?

  3. Pacifica says:

    I just finished the…
    i guess i would call it a demo..?? ;D
Its a really good game so far.
Im gonna go buy it for my kindle. 😀
Awesome job as usual COG people. :^D

  4. Simon says:

2,30€ is pretty expensive for an Android game. I bought it anyway, because I’m used to high-quality content from COG, but others might not feel the same way.

  5. Pacifica says:

I dont know if its just me, but i BOUGHT the kindle version; but it wont download.
    It just keeps saying error.
    Is it something i did…??
Or is the link just broken or something…??
Can yu either fix it or refund please.

  6. Zeke says:

Would it be possible to arrange something for those of us that do not have a smartphone or kindle, and do not want to install Chrome? Maybe after paying through PayPal (my preferred method) you could give us a password to the unlocked version of the game?

  7. Trevor says:

The app keeps deleting my saved game in iOS….I’ve deleted and redownloaded it, but it’s still doing it.

  8. Joleicia says:

Kinda sucks how everything requires you to buy it now… Guess I should get a kindle!
