Diabolical — Rule the world as a criminal mastermind!

Posted by: Dan Fabulich | Comments (0)

Diabolical

We’re proud to announce that Diabolical, the latest in our popular “Choice of Games” line of multiple-choice interactive-fiction games, is now available for Steam, iOS, and Android. It’s 25% off until November 13th.

Start practicing your evil laugh! As the world’s greatest criminal mastermind, choose a lair, hire a minion, and steal the world’s largest ball of aluminum foil! (Or, destroy the world. FINE.)

“Diabolical” is a 130,000-word interactive novel by Nick Aires, where your choices control the story. It’s entirely text-based–without graphics or sound effects–and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Famous, feared, or filthy rich–why not all three? You’ve got the money and the motives to build an evil empire worthy of the most ruthless villain the world has ever seen. Crush the good guys and terrorize the populace! Stamp a big red “FAIL” on your enemies’ foreheads! Plunder your way to world domination–or sit back and pet your kitty while your henchmen do it for you.

Will you be a high-tech daredevil, a ruthless military soldier, or an apparition terrifying to behold? What calling card will you leave at the scene of your crimes? Whatever your choices, the results will be diabolical.

  • Play a villainous story of scheming, grandstanding, and laughing evilly.
  • Interview and hire the best possible (or best available) minion.
  • Decide when to use trickery, when to use force, and when to hide behind henchmen.
  • Choose the ultimate, guaranteed-to-be-infamous nickname.
  • Play as male or female, with straight, gay, and bisexual romance options.
  • Destroy the world!

We need your support to continue delivering our games on Steam. Our goal is to release our entire catalog of interactive novels on Steam. Based on the extraordinary performance of Choice of Robots and Champion of the Gods, both which made it onto Steam’s front page this year, Valve has allowed us to ship a handful of additional games. We’ll need to continue to deliver outstanding results to prove that interactive fiction can be successful on Steam.

We’re asking all of our fans to follow us on Steam. Even if you don’t use Steam that much, it will be a big help if you sign up to follow us there, because the more followers we get, the better visibility we get on Steam’s curator list. (Our goal is to hit 3,000 followers for our Steam curation page; we’re about 80% of the way there as I write this!)

When you follow us, you’ll see our games and our recommended games right on your Steam home page. It’s free, and it’s a big help to us, so follow us today!

We hope you enjoy playing Diabolical. We encourage you to tell your friends about it, and recommend the game on StumbleUpon, Facebook, Twitter, and other sites. Don’t forget: our initial download rate determines our ranking on the App Store. The more times you download in the first week, the better our games will rank.

Try Bookburners from Serial Box, created by Max Gladstone

Posted by: Dan Fabulich | Comments (0)

Bookburners

Max Gladstone, author of Choice of the Deathless, is working on a delightful new serialized (non-interactive) novel, Bookburners, with our friends at Serial Box. (Serial Box is like HBO for books: top-shelf writing in weekly episodes.)

Magic is real, and hungry—trapped in ancient texts and artifacts, only a few who discover it survive to fight back. Detective Sal Brooks is a survivor. Freshly awake to just what dangers are lurking, she joins a Vatican-backed black-ops anti-magic squad: Team Three of the Societas Librorum Occultorum. Together they stand between humanity and magical apocalypse. Some call them the Bookburners. They don’t like the label.

If you enjoyed Deathless, we think you’ll really enjoy Bookburners, too!

Bookburners and all future Serial Box serials will be available on the site, in the app, and on iTunes, Amazon, Kobo, Google Play, and B&N.

There’s a new game in our Hosted Games program ready for you to play!

Founders Saga: The Culling

Killer robots, masked warriors in well-tailored robes, job interviews where you’re judged on your skill with a stun baton — this is all just another day in the world of The Founders — a world where you either start a business, fight for one, or end up conscripted to The Farm.

This is your world and you must decide how you’re going to survive in it.

Will you live by your brains, your business savvy, your silver tongue, or your ability to punch people really hard in the face? Will you be ruthless, striving for wealth and glory above all else, or honorable, relying on your friends and allies to get you through tough spots?

Will you fall in love?

Founders Saga: The Culling is the first episode in an interactive science fiction novel by Steve Spalding. It begins your journey towards founding a startup, earning your Slowgun, and discovering who you can trust in a world where business is total war.

A Wise Use of Time — Will you freeze time for justice, money, or power?

Posted by: Dan Fabulich | Comments (4)

A Wise Use of Time

We’re proud to announce that A Wise Use of Time, the latest in our popular “Choice of Games” line of multiple-choice interactive-fiction games, is now available for Steam, iOS, and Android. It’s 25% off until September 11th.

With the power to freeze time, you can ransack a casino, rescue a celebrity, or cheat death itself!

“A Wise Use of Time” is a thrilling 260,000-word interactive sci-fi novel by Jim Dattilo, author of “Zombie Exodus,” winner of the 2011 XYZZY “Special Recognition” award for interactive fiction. Your choices control the story. It’s entirely text-based–without graphics or sound effects–and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

When you freeze time, no one can see you, hear you, or stop you, except, perhaps, a handful of mysterious time controllers like yourself. Every second you steal puts more stress on your body and mind.

Will you bring justice to the mobsters who run rampant in your city? Will you steal from them to provide for those in need? Will you share your power with friends and family? Will you destroy your own powers, or will your powers destroy you first?

  • Play as male or female; gay, straight, or bisexual.
  • Develop relationships with one of four main romantic options (or a secret one). Track your relationships and moral stats as they change.
  • Level up your time-control powers, or nullify them to protect yourself and others.

We need your support to continue delivering our games on Steam. Our goal is to release our entire catalog of interactive novels on Steam.
